Choir

Concert Choir is designed for growing and less experienced voices. Vocalists in this ensemble will learn vocal production, musicality, and how to read music. This is an excellent class for people who enjoy performing choral music as an addition to their other interests or people who would like to train and improve for future participation in upper level choral ensembles.

Chamber Choir is a select, auditioned ensemble that learns a variety of choral literature. It is for students who already demonstrate superior singing, musical interpretation, and music reading skills.

Treble Choir is for students who demonstrate superior singing, musical interpretation, and music reading skills.

Vocal Jazz is a select, auditioned choral ensemble that learns a variety of vocal jazz styles. This class is suggested to those who exhibit superior musical reading and vocalizing skills.

Welcome Tim Faix

Hanford music is pleased to welcome Tim Faix to our program as the new choir teacher. Many of you may know Mr. Faix as a physics teacher here at HHS. He also has a degree in music, piano performance, from Central Washington University and sang in choir there for two years. We welcome Tim Faix to our music team!

Concert Attire

Uniform attire will be required for each student:

Ladies will wear black concert dresses; these dresses, which will be worn at all performances, are rented to students for the year. The Hanford Music Association owns the dresses, and the dresses will be returned at the end of the year. The fee for dress rental is $25. Ladies will be fitted for these dresses during the first month of school.

Gentlemen will need black slacks and white button-up shirts with collars; however, gentlemen are encouraged to go ahead and purchase a simple tuxedo. Such suits are available for about $100 at any department store, and these suits will be useful for proms and other special events throughout their high school careers. Gentlemen will also need matching ties, purchased for $10 from Richland School District.
